Maximo Thermowood is a high-performance, thermally modified wood product used in luxury architectural and outdoor applications where stability, durability, and refined aesthetics matter. At Deckmasters of Florida, we specialize in the fabrication and installation of Maximo Thermowood products for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects throughout South Florida.
From custom louvers and ceilings to cladding, walls, and architectural features, Thermowood offers a modern, sustainable alternative to traditional hardwoods—without sacrificing performance or appearance.
Thermowood is real wood, not composite or PVC.
What makes it different is how it’s treated.
Thermowood is produced through a thermal modification process that uses only heat and steam—no chemicals. During this process, the wood is heated to extremely high temperatures in a controlled environment, permanently altering its cellular structure.
This process:
The result is a wood product that performs exceptionally well in demanding climates like South Florida.
Thermally modified wood technology originated in Europe, where it has been used for decades in architectural and exterior applications. Maximo Wood builds on this European expertise, producing Thermowood products that meet the expectations of modern designers and builders.
Maximo Thermowood is manufactured using European-developed thermal modification processes, with an emphasis on:
These products are then distributed in the United States through select, high-quality suppliers.
All Maximo Thermowood materials used by Deckmasters of Florida are supplied through Lumber Plus, the South Florida distributor for Maximo Wood products.
Lumber Plus provides:
This partnership allows Deckmasters to confidently specify and install Maximo Thermowood on high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality projects throughout Florida.
Florida’s climate is brutal on traditional wood. Heat, humidity, moisture, and UV exposure cause many materials to fail prematurely.
Maximo Thermowood is an excellent choice for Florida because it offers:
It performs especially well in covered exterior areas, interior architectural applications, and high-end commercial environments.
Deckmasters of Florida installs Maximo Thermowood for a wide range of applications, including:
Each application is carefully engineered and fabricated to ensure proper fastening, spacing, and long-term stability.
Maximo Thermowood is not a “plug-and-play” material.
It requires experience, planning, and proper fabrication.
At Deckmasters of Florida:
This approach is what allows our Thermowood installations to look magazine-quality and perform long-term.
Thermowood is widely regarded as an environmentally responsible wood product. Because the modification process relies on heat and steam—rather than chemicals—it creates a durable material without toxic treatments.
Many Maximo Thermowood products are sourced from responsibly managed forests and align well with:
Not every contractor understands Thermowood.
Even fewer can fabricate and install it correctly.
Deckmasters of Florida is trusted for Thermowood projects because we offer:
Our recent six-figure Thermowood louver installation for a major Miami restaurant is a prime example of how this material can be executed at the highest level.
High-end hospitality / architectural wood fabrication
Miami / Coconut Grove, Florida
Maximo Thermowood
Deckmasters of Florida was selected to design, fabricate, and install a large-scale custom architectural wood louver system for Ava Restaurant, a newly opened Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in the Miami–Coconut Grove area.
The project consisted of dozens of fixed (non-operable) Thermowood louvers installed throughout a significant portion of the restaurant. This was a six-figure custom fabrication project, executed over several months and built to meet the visual and performance expectations of a high-end hospitality environment.
The design intent required wood elements that:
Because the louvers were stationary and highly visible, precision and consistency were critical. Any deviation in spacing, alignment, or finish would be immediately noticeable.
Maximo Thermowood was chosen because it provided:
The material allowed the louvers to visually integrate into the surrounding architecture while maintaining structural integrity and refinement.
This was not a prefabricated system.
Every louver was custom built in our shop over a period of approximately three months. During peak production, fabrication occurred nearly seven days per week to maintain quality standards and project timelines.
Key fabrication details:
This level of fabrication discipline is typically associated with architectural millwork—not standard exterior carpentry.
Installation was executed with the same precision as fabrication. Each louver was carefully positioned to ensure uniformity, clean sightlines, and seamless integration with the surrounding design elements.
The completed louver system:
The restaurant ownership and design team were extremely pleased with the outcome, and the project has already generated strong attention and positive feedback.
This project demonstrates Deckmasters of Florida’s ability to:
It stands as a benchmark for architectural Thermowood installation in South Florida.
Not every contractor understands Thermowood—and even fewer can fabricate and install it correctly. Deckmasters of Florida brings material knowledge, fabrication capability, and execution discipline to every Thermowood project we take on.
If you are an architect, designer, developer, or property owner exploring Maximo Thermowood in Florida, we are the team trusted to deliver at the highest level.
